REVIEW: Eslava, Seville.

Hello fellow food lovers!

If you follow me on instagram (@Sashimiwithme 😉) then you might have known that Colin and I have recently travelled to Madrid and Seville.

Today, I wanted to talk about ONE of THE BEST tapas restaurant we visited while we were in Seville called Eslava.

outside of eslava tapas restaurant in seville.
Outside seating area stretched over 2 other shops. Queue was long.
We arrived at 8:15pm (thinking that was early) and still had to wait 30 minutes. It was worth the wait!!

Colin found this restaurant in a news article (The Independent, I think) and when we researched it we found that it was featured on The Michelin Guide. Needless to say, I was hyped.

Since Eslava is a tapas style restaurant, we just ordered a bunch of dishes and they would arrive as and when they were ready. I absolutely love this relaxed and laid back style of dining especially when   the quality of the ingredients are this high.

Here are some of the dishes we had...

razor clams grilled with lemon at eslava tapas restaurant
Grilled razor clams (€ 6.90)
These were a little more on the expensive side but they worth cooked and seasoned to perfection.

red mullet in breadcrumbs at eslava tapas restaurant
Fried red mullet (€2.90)
These little beauties! If you love fried fish, these (and the fried anchovies) were really good.

Foie-gras mi cuit with hazel nut bread and bitter almond jelly at eslava tapas restaurant
Foie-gras mi cuit with hazelnut bread and bitter almond jelly (€3.90)
These were ok, good to try them but i wouldn't order them again. They didn't have enough flavour for me.

jamon de iberico at eslava tapas restaurant
Jamon Iberico (€13.50 for 1/2 portion)
Sashimi is my favourite food but cured ham is a close second. This Iberico ham was tender and full of that signature acorn flavour that gives the jamon so much depth and uniqueness. When in Spain, eat lots of Iberico ham.

egg yolk at eslava tapas restaurant
Slow-cooked egg served on boletus cake with caramelised wine reduction (€3.10)
This is one of Eslava's award winning dishes. I LOVE the bright orange yolk and the way this dish look visually but the flavour was quite mellow. The sauce was on point though.

Becquer cigar at eslava tapas restaurant
Brick pastry cigar shaped with cuttle fish and algae (€3.10)
The other award winning dish. This was an interesting dish both visually and in flavour.
The taste has an essence of the ocean (haha) but it wasn't fishy at all. I would not have guessed that it was cuttle fish and algae. Again, very mellow tasting.

ginger marinaded beef tataki at eslava tapas restaurant
Beef Tataki with ginger (€4.50)
This was our FAVOURITE dish of the night! If you love beef, you need to try this! Apart from Kobe Beef, this was the most tender and flavourful beef I've tasted outside of Japan. You can taste the salty/umami flavour from the sauce. Not exactly sure what the sauce was but it tasted like a soya/miso based sauce. This dish was so good, we ordered seconds!!

pork ribs with honey at eslava
Roasted pork ribs, glazed in rosemary honey (€3.10)
These tasted just as delicious as they look in the picture. Succulent, sweet, sticky, a little fatty (not a bad thing) and great meat on the bone. Just great!

If you are ever in Seville, I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. It is an amazing tapas restaurant with both classic and unique dishes. Service was great. Food was awesome. Price was also very reasonably.

Have you ever been to this restaurant? What were your thoughts?

Love,
Chalita
